To France

Taking on water,
Sailing a restless sea

From a memory,

A fantasy.

The wind carries

Into white water,

Far from the islands.

Don't you know you're

Never going to get to France.

Mary, Queen of Chance,
will they find you?

Never going to get to France.
Could a new romance
ever bind you?

Walking on foreign ground,

Like a shadow,
Roaming in far off
Territory.
Over your shoulder,
Stories unfold, you're
Searching for sanctuary.

You know you're

Never going to get to France...

I see a picture

By the lamp's flicker.

Isn't it strange
how
Dreams fade and shimmer?
Never going to get to France...

I see a picture

By the lamp's flicker.

Isn't it strange
how
Dreams fade and shimmer?
Never going to get to France...

Μαθηματικός Ορισμός Της Ευτυχίας - Mathematical Definition Of Happiness

....................................................

Happiness is something
that multiplies when it is divided

God's Gonna Cut You Down (Traditional)

You can run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
If you can run on for a long time
Sooner or later God will cut you down
Oh sooner or later God will cut you down, down
You can run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later God will cut you down
Sooner or later God will cut you down
Go tell that long tongue liar
Go and tell that midnight rider
Tell the rambler, the gambler, the back biter
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down

Well my goodness gracious let me tell you the news
My head's been wet with the midnight dew
I've been down on bended knee
Talkin' to the man from Galilee
He spoke to me in the voice so sweet
I thought I heard the shuffle of the angel's feet
He called my name and my heart stood still
When he said, "John go do My will!"
Go tell that long tongue liar
Go and tell that midnight rider
Tell the rambler, the gambler, the back biter
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut you down
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down
You can run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
You can throw your rock and hide your hand
Working in the dark against your fellow man
But as sure as God made black and white
What's down in the dark will be brought to the light

You can run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Sooner or later God'll cut you down

How To Write a Magical Poem - Πώς Να Γράψεις Ένα Ποίημα Μαγικό

.................................................
There is nothing easier
than writing a magical poem.
If you have strong nerves
and good intentions at least.
It is not that difficult I assure you.
Take a rope and tie it to a cloud.
And leave one end of it dangling.
Like a child, climb the rope to the end.
And throw it back to us.
And let us try to find you and then,
in every poem.

The Three Cypress Trees - Τα Τρία Κυπαρίσσια

..................................................

Transparent and frail,
like the slumber of woodcutters,
serene, foreshadowing things to come,

the morning drizzle does not conceal
these three cypresses on the slope.
Their details belie their sameness,
their radiance confirms it.
I said:
I wouldn’t dare to keep looking at them,
there is a beauty that takes away our daring,
there are times when courage fades away.
The clouds rolling high above
change the form of the cypresses.
The birds flying towards other skies
change the resonance of the cypresses.
The tiled line behind them
fixes the greenness of the cypresses
and there are trees whose only fruit is greenness.
Yesterday, in my sudden cheerfulness,
I saw their immortality.
Today, in my sudden sorrow,
I saw the axe.

Ισως Φταίνε Τα Φεγγάρια - Maybe The Moons Are To Blame

In the cheap hotel and the sheets of the many
inside mirrors with no memory we'll be starting over,
dreams slide while we sleep, like trains in the station
and in your breath I look for some ancient scenery.

Maybe the moons are to blame I am so lonely
I feel I grow older at nights and I owe to life
Maybe the moons are to blame and many say I'm crazy
that I always search the darks in case something happens
Maybe the moons are to blame, or then again you are.

A beam of light passes through the sun blinds and wipes out yesterdays
oh,how stories get entangled along with people's courses,
In the cheap hotel and the sheets of the many
inside mirrors with no memory, we'll get through
.

Maybe the moons are to blame I am so lonely
I feel I grow older at nights and I owe to life
Maybe the moons are to blame and many say I'm crazy
that I always search the darks in case something happens
Maybe the moons are to blame, or then again you are.

I will embroider on your horse's saddle
with lots of diamond stones,
Moon's movements to and fro
over the open sea water

Oh, my boy, my boy
my boy let me have the joy of you.

I will embroider by your silver pistols
swallow mother's feather,
and a cross to protect you
the nights I long for you.

I will embroider on your double edged dagger
your pure glance,
this glance of blue
which I can't ever stop staring at.

One morning my Virgin Mary
will come to find me in the shore.
My dreams are like a hidden sea
and thus you sent me a sail boat.

Nobody knows how much I love you
and if you love me nobody knows too,
my little summer love,I love you.

You'll stand high enough on the window
and you'll have southern stars on your hair.
Virgin Mary has got her captain
to take us away, far away from this land.

Mercedes Benz

Oh Lord, won’t you buy me
a Mercedes Benz ?

My friends all drive Porsches,
I must make amends.

Worked hard all my lifetime,
no help from my friends,

So Lord, won’t you buy me
a Mercedes Benz ?

Oh Lord, won’t you buy me
a color TV ?

Dialing For Dollars is trying
to find me.

I wait for delivery each day
until three,

So oh Lord, won’t you buy me
a color TV ?

Oh Lord, won’t you buy me
a night on the town ?

I’m counting on you,
Lord, please don’t let me down.

Prove that you love me
and buy the next round,

Oh Lord, won’t you buy me
a night on the town ?

Our Trade - Η Συναλλαγή Μας

I suppose I could lie.
It’s easily done and even that
can be forgiven

If the lie is good enough
and smooth enough

And leavened with a touch of the truth.

What’s fiction but a lie well told?

I could lie but the truth is

Our trade begins in magic.

That’s all.

That’s the whole of it.

That’s all we know.

What’s the use of
saying silence helps?

Noise may help too.
The call of the cuckoo

I hear thee and rejoice

Or the stuttering orisons of . . . but you know that one.

No use framing a law that contradicts itself.

Even in our trade.
But I offer you a contradiction instead:
All words disrupt silence

But the only ones that echo

Are born in the silence they destroy.

(...)
.......................................

Τι άλλο είναι φαντασία από ένα ψέμμα καλά ειπωμένο;

Τι ωφελεί να λες Σιωπή;

Toward The Light - Προς Το Φως

Return light to the lampshade

and then it’s dark

Who is it
that blocks out a moth

and trains it to stay
in darkness?

After endless training

the moth eventually breaks
its wings
and is unable to fly
Dragging the dusk

it creeps as slow
as a snail toward light.
......................
να μένει στό σκοτάδι;

Αύγουστος Είναι - August Is

August is the song of Nicolas
and one night in a lifetime you have it all,
a hug and a small portable radio ,playing
tunes of Malamas, Peridis and Lidakis.

August is Giannis Ritsos' "Moonlight Sonata"
but maybe an ice-cream of chocolate too,
this unique moonlight feast is to
fool yourself there is immortality.

August is the reverie of the Skiathan
and memories of light, of Panormitis,
a flame of candle in the humble faldstool
with the archangel's sword in the sheathe
.

August is the second moon too
before September comes to take it away,

five or six rows of lyrics you love and remember

It is you, too, that stay awake while you sleep.

August is Giannis Ritsos' "Moonlight Sonata"
but maybe an ice-cream of chocolate too,
this unique moonlight feast is just to
fool yourself there is immortality.

Spirits In The Material World

There is no political solution
To our troubled evolution

Have no faith in constitution

There is no bloody revolution

We are spirits in the material world

Are spirits in the material world

Our so-called leaders speak

With words they try to jail you

The subjugate the meek

But its the rhetoric of failure

We are spirits in the material world

Are spirits in the material world

Where does the answer lie?

Living from day to day

If it's something we can't buy

There must be another way

We are spirits in the material world

Are spirits in the material world...

Που θρονιάζει το ψέμμα;

Ήτανε Μιά Φορά - Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time my friend
there was a beautiful lady, I swear
a young married, blond lady
who waited for her lord day and night.
On a saturday night to Sunday,
she pleads the moon and the sun:
My sun light him on, my moon
go and talk to him for my sake!
He travels sailing on the seas
and pirates beats and kills
under the sun, the moon and in the rain,
and he leaves me here
deserted and alone.
He encountered a galley and wind was north,
so my friend,he rushed into battle and,
among a pirates gang I saw
fire burning and death all over...

Οδυσσέας Και Σειρήνες - Odysseus And Sirens

................................................
'Then I spake among my company with a heavy heart: "Friends, forasmuch as it is not well that one or two alone should know of the oracles that Circe, the fair goddess, spake unto me, therefore will I declare them, that with foreknowledge we may die, or haply shunning death and destiny escape. First she bade us avoid the sound of the voice of the wondrous Sirens, and their field of flowers, and me only she bade listen to their voices. So bind ye me in a hard bond, that I may abide unmoved in my place, upright in the mast-stead, and from the mast let rope-ends be tied, and if I beseech and bid you to set me free, then do ye straiten me with yet more bonds."
'Thus I rehearsed these things one and all, and declared them to my company. Meanwhile our good ship quickly came to the island of the Sirens twain, for a gentle breeze sped her on her way. Then straightway the wind ceased, and lo, there was a windless calm, and some god lulled the waves. Then my company rose up and drew in the ship's sails, and stowed them in the hold of the ship, while they sat at the oars and whitened the water with their polished pine blades. But I with my sharp sword cleft in pieces a great circle of wax, and with my strong hands kneaded it. And soon the wax grew warm, for that my great might constrained it, and the beam of the lord Helios, son of Hyperion. And I anointed therewith the ears of all my men in their order, and in the ship they bound me hand and foot upright in the mast-stead, and from the mast they fastened rope-ends and themselves sat down, and smote the grey sea water with their oars. But when the ship was within the sound of a man's shout from the land, we fleeing swiftly on our way, the Sirens espied the swift ship speeding toward them, and they raised their clear-toned song:
'"Hither, come hither, renowned Odysseus, great glory of the Achaeans, here stay thy barque, that thou mayest listen to the voice of us twain. For none hath ever driven by this way in his black ship, till he hath heard from our lips the voice sweet as the honeycomb, and hath had joy thereof and gone on his way the wiser. For lo, we know all things, all the travail that in wide Troy-land the Argives and Trojans bare by the gods' designs, yea, and we know all that shall hereafter be upon the fruitful earth." 'So spake they uttering a sweet voice, and my heart was fain to listen, and I bade my company unbind me, nodding at them with a frown, but they bent to their oars and rowed on. Then straight uprose Perimedes and Eurylochus and bound me with more cords and straitened me yet the more. Now when we had driven past them, nor heard we any longer the sound of the Sirens or their song, forthwith my dear company took away the wax wherewith I had anointed their ears and loosed me from my bonds.

Μιά Επικράτεια Φωτιάς - A Reign Of Fire

Τι θα κερδίσουν;
γη σαν άντρες;
ασφυκτικά βαθιά της;
.........................................
On this time we belong everyone and all together.
The harvest of ships looks like a reign of fire,
and
seeing the enemy feels like a thorn through the heart.
The living seed is dying under the sun,

and even so,there's no courage missing

for those who long for getting their fill
,
their thirst for blood, over the Naxians.

What shall they earn?

A wound instead of a country,

when they should bustle the land like men?

If peoples could share the same acquiescence,

they wouldn't drag their own crippled generations,
they wouldn't limping on their own injuries.

How is this possible, my soul not to be
drowned
and asphyxiated deep inside?

Dead are always dead.

All this slaughter is futile.

Ο Ξεχασμένος - The Forgotten One

Ahora soy del hondo reino de los dormidos;

allν me reconozco, me encuentro con mi alma.

La noche a picotazos roe mi corazσn,
y me bebe la sangre el sol de los dormidos;

Yo soy el olvidado. Quiero un ramo de agua;

................................
Craven people all over the world,
come and join!

I won't do you this favour, cos

I got sunny wings of gold,

and flying! I'm flying!

So, farewell to your abyss!

Δεύτερη Φύση - Second Nature

I.

Η Ζωή.

III.

..................................

I.

Smile! His princess wished to

Be born under the dynasty of roses.

II.

Time is fast shadow of birds

My eyes wide open in its pictures

Around the full green success of leaves

Butterflies live on great adventures

While innocense

undresses of her last lie

Sweet adventure sweet

Life is.

III.

Epigram:

Before my eyes you were light

Before love,you were love

And when the kiss took you

A woman.

Απώλειες - Losses

...............
Heavy veil
Dressed up
The night.

Try to find you

In silence

Untold,

In sunsets

So pale,

Leap over

Dreams,

That nights,
Didn't kiss them

On the lips.

On roads
Unshadowed

Sign on

Losses.
