13 Παύσεις Καί Μία Πρόσκληση - 13 Pauses And An Invitation

Ένας καθρέφτης Dodge,

...........................
One Moment
One Drop of rain
One Breath,
Οne Daisy
Colour Red
And colour Blue,
One Wave
One Wagtail
One Dodge Mirror,
The Spring
The Summer
One crystal Tear,
The same moment but cruel
One Silence so naked,
Come with me...

Young Poets - Νέοι Ποιητές

Write as you will
In whatever style you like
Too much blood has run

under the bridge,
To go on believing
That only one road is right.
In poetry everything is permitted.
With only this condition of course,

You have to improve the blank page.
..........................................

.......................................................
A kiss on the tile roof edge
marks the start of my acrobatism on the absurd.
Senses look out for you,
those five slashed cypress tops
aiming at the horizon...
I feel like a refugee in crude notes,
to the slow an' sharp sound of a wounded trumpet,
a sound extending until it breaks,
coming down and collapsing
and crawls on the seasides which adored you.
Don't let the music hurt you...
Don't let my confessions hurt you...

Πιάστηκα Σκοινί Κορδόνι - I Can't Help It

I'll give you a pillow / To sleep in the dark / Oh, god how much I love you!
I'll weave an engagement cloth for you / To have it in the winter time / Oh, god how much I love you! // I can't help thinking about it / I'm leaving abroad
I fell into macaroni / What a shame for me. / I breathe and I am lonely / Though far away I'm still human. / I'll send you on the plane / Baklava from Milano / Oh, god how much I love you! / I'll send you on a skateboard / Pele, right in Nea Krini / Oh, god how much I love you! / I can't help thinking about it / Coming close to you / You know a man abroad / Can really do anything. / I breathe and I am lonely / Though far away I'm still human. /Accept in your post box from me / My precious college degree / Oh, god how much I love you! / To hang it on the wall / Beside Mona Lisa's picture / Oh, god how much I love you! // I can't help thinking about it / Tied up in trouble abroad /I opened up a spaghettti restaurant / I'm not coming back to you. / I opened up a spaghetti restaurant / And now I am a rich man abroad / Got money earned from macaroni / What a shame for me!

Parisienne Walkways

I remember Paris in '49,
The Champs Elysee,
San Michelle,
And old Beaujolais wine.
And I recall that you were mine

In those Parisienne days.

Looking back at the photographs,

Those summer days spent
outside corner cafes.

Oh, I could write you paragraphs

About my old Parisienne days.

The Last Toast - Η Τελευταία Πρόποση

Whether we like it or not,
We have only three choices:
Yesterday, today and tomorrow.
And not even three
Because as the philosopher says
Yesterday is yesterday
It belongs to us only in memory:
From the rose already plucked
No more petals can be drawn.
The cards to play
Are only two:
The present and the future.
And there aren't even two
Because it's a known fact
The present doesn't exist
Except as it edges past
And is consumed...,like youth.
In the end,
We are only left with tomorrow.
I raise my glass
To the day that never arrives.
But that is all we have at our disposal.
..............................................

Nicanor Parra

Ποταμός - The River

.......................
......................................
No man ever steps in
the same river twice,
for it's not the same river
and he's not the same man.

Lady Grinning Soul

She'll come, she'll go.
She'll lay belief on you

Skin sweet with musky oil,

The lady from another grinning soul.

Cologne she'll wear,

Silver and Americard

She'll drive a beetle car,

And beat you down at cool Canasta.

And when the clothes are strewn,

don't be afraid of the room

Touch the fullness of her breast,

Feel the love of her caress,

She will be your living end.

She'll come, she'll go.

She'll lay belief on you,

But she won't stake her life on you,

How can life become her point of view?

And when the clothes are strewn,

don't be afraid of the room

Touch the fullness of her breast,

Feel the love of her caress,

She will be your living end...

For Anastasia - Γιά Την Αναστασία

There was not one piece
of your beauty that God failed in-

as if you were put here
for no purpose-but proof.

I misused so many moments
of our November

when you asked me

to be more than a boy

but I was a boy,
a quite a boy.
Fearless and Cunning and Kingly.

I'm sure your curves have changed
this many year gone,

and I'm not that fearless anymore,

but I still look for the arch of your brow
in every woman that passes-

I Do...
................................................

Mέρα Μαγιού - May Day

2009 : Giannis Ritsos poetic year.
100 years from his birth.

....................................

On a May day you left,
on a May day I lost you,
on spring, my son, that you loved
so much to go upstairs.
To the sunny room and gazed on
without getting any fill at all,
you milked with your eyes
the light of the cosmos.

Giannis Ritsos
(Excerpt from his poem "Epitaph")
