Πενθεσίλεια ΙΙ - Penthesilea II

Τhe flesh is a trophy in your hands.
Naked from a mask, naked like a breath
in the penumbra of life's end
in the penumbra of death's entrance.
I respect the untamed of your love
and I yield to your heel's lust
licking up weaknesses.
Because you are tangy in battle
but raw in love.
My eye's popped out
but my breast is in place,
perforate, upright,
ready to put down in a carnivorous earth.
I can not see you,
but I can still feed you.
What is love leaned on an agonizing body?
A fight against finite?
An anguish on its behalf?
This moment I can fit neither in life nor death.
The only place of adoration is in your arms
while disrupting its garments
to win a little more time
with my cells degeneration.
I forgive you for revealing my mortality.
Hands dirty from the blood
hands cleansed from the heat of the battle.
Dead or disjointed only then you can love me?
The arrows of love are spears of death
because you never confessed your faith in lust.
You know, times give no absolution.
Queen.
I 've just managed to fit in the throne,
and as I widened I fell in the world of mortals
kneeling more and more to the crack of your sole,
and then wherever you stepped I got in.

..................

Shoot the Mourning Sun
from the cannon's belly
and kill the night
that slowly is dying dying,
with one last ball
rip the black body
of empty eons,
just rip them off
with the razor of the wind
and then come again
victorious, new born
like a thousand heliotropes
dancing around all these
pale fools who thought
they'd just terminate
silence, with a vulgar light.

Ένας Ποιητής - A Poet

........................

Failures, compromises, alcohol,

manuscripts torn,
acts of heroism in my imagination,
leaving like masturbation
a sense of humiliated manhood,
lotteries winning in my daydreams,
time and ambition that like dogs
keep sharing my bones
and sometimes a kind of rage
to be humiliated so as to forget
everything that wasn't done or
maybe endure what is to be done.
And poetry? Poetry-is a way
to die harder and harder every day ...

Η Οδύνη Μου - My Anguish

Ποιός είπε οτι είναι παγωμένα;

....................

My anguish has colour
blue with grey stripes.
Like the pyjamas I sewed
early in the morning
with fabric of solid clouds
washed by breast milk,
with mirrored suspicions floating
like nestlings of dead birds
on the alpine lake.

My anguish has memory,
it always comes to find me
in the momentum of time
like a regular Armenian visit,
sailing on the midst of the ocean
with knowledge and despair.

My anguish is departure.
No withdrawal or retreat.
Every time the head rope is untied
memories bind mountains.

Μy anguish is maiden voyage.
I don't know if I still know myself.
Completely lost in the mist
in the middle of the road
I keep watching and raving.
My childhood years now
they look like snow;
white ,beautiful and pure.
Who said it was frozen?
Cold are the wrinkled hands,
cold are the radicels of the tree men
with clotted blood.

My anguish is great,
like a heavily pregnant
morning glimmer,
lustful like the glaucous vortex
of the embracing water.

My anguish is always my everything
like the instant butterfly
on the acromion of utopia.

My anguish is unbearable.
Every passing day,
it secretly reveals to me
that wants to become travail.
So as to be expiated
finally, through itself,
the entire universe.

No shadow
No stars
No moon
No care
November
It only believes
In a pile of dead leaves
And a moon
That's the color of bone

No prayers for November
To linger longer
Stick your spoon in the wall
We'll slaughter them all

November has tied me
To an old dead tree
Get word to April
To rescue me
November's cold chain

Made of wet boots and rain
And shiny black ravens
On chimney smoke lanes
November seems odd
You're my firing squad
November

With my hair slicked back
With carrion shellac
With the blood from a pheasant
And the bone from a hare

Tied to the branches
Of a roebuck stag
Left to wave in the timber
Like a buck shot flag

Go away you rainsnout
Go away, blow your brains out
November

Aranjuez

Εσύ κι εγώ..

Aranjuez,
Un lugar de ensueňos y de amor
Donde un rumor de fuentes
De cristal
En el jardin parece hablar
En voz baja a las rosas

Aranjuez,

Tu y yo

Είμαι Ένα Σφάλμα - I Am A Mistake

I am a mistake
A wild subterranean stream
Throwing dirty waters
On everyone's dream
And on everybody's lie

Your eyes are from a dream
My thoughts from soil
And I am a foxy child
Walking barefoot
Half an entire century
In the deep winter.

Patti Smith - Mourning Lou Reed

On Sunday morning, I rose early. I had decided the night before to go to the ocean, so I slipped a book and a bottle of water into a sack and caught a ride to Rockaway Beach. It felt like a significant date, but I failed to conjure anything specific. The beach was empty, and, with the anniversary of Hurricane Sandy looming, the quiet sea seemed to embody the contradictory truth of nature. I stood there for a while, tracing the path of a low-flying plane, when I received a text message from my daughter, Jesse. Lou Reed was dead. I flinched and took a deep breath. I had seen him with his wife, Laurie, in the city recently, and I’d sensed that he was ill. A weariness shadowed her customary brightness. When Lou said goodbye, his dark eyes seemed to contain an infinite and benevolent sadness.
I met Lou at Max’s Kansas City in 1970. The Velvet Underground played two sets a night for several weeks that summer. The critic and scholar Donald Lyons was shocked that I had never seen them, and he escorted me upstairs for the second set of their first night. I loved to dance, and you could dance for hours to the music of the Velvet Underground. A dissonant surf doo-wop drone allowing you to move very fast or very slow. It was my late and revelatory introduction to “Sister Ray.”
Within a few years, in that same room upstairs at Max’s, Lenny Kaye, Richard Sohl, and I presented our own land of a thousand dances. Lou would often stop by to see what we were up to. A complicated man, he encouraged our efforts, then turned and provoked me like a Machiavellian schoolboy. I would try to steer clear of him, but, catlike, he would suddenly reappear, and disarm me with some Delmore Schwartz line about love or courage. I didn’t understand his erratic behavior or the intensity of his moods, which shifted, like his speech patterns, from speedy to laconic. But I understood his devotion to poetry and the transporting quality of his performances. He had black eyes, black T-shirt, pale skin. He was curious, sometimes suspicious, a voracious reader, and a sonic explorer. An obscure guitar pedal was for him another kind of poem. He was our connection to the infamous air of the Factory. He had made Edie Sedgwick dance. Andy Warhol whispered in his ear. Lou brought the sensibilities of art and literature into his music. He was our generation’s New York poet, championing its misfits as Whitman had championed its workingman and Lorca its persecuted.
As my band evolved and covered his songs, Lou bestowed his blessings. Toward the end of the seventies, I was preparing to leave the city for Detroit when I bumped into him by the elevator in the old Gramercy Park Hotel. I was carrying a book of poems by Rupert Brooke. He took the book out of my hand and we looked at the poet’s photograph together. So beautiful, he said, so sad. It was a moment of complete peace.
As news of Lou’s death spread, a rippling sensation mounted, then burst, filling the atmosphere with hyperkinetic energy. Scores of messages found their way to me. A call from Sam Shepard, driving a truck through Kentucky. A modest Japanese photographer sending a text from Tokyo—“I am crying.”
As I mourned by the sea, two images came to mind, watermarking the paper- colored sky. The first was the face of his wife, Laurie. She was his mirror; in her eyes you can see his kindness, sincerity, and empathy. The second was the “great big clipper ship” that he longed to board, from the lyrics of his masterpiece, “Heroin.” I envisioned it waiting for him beneath the constellation formed by the souls of the poets he so wished to join. Before I slept, I searched for the significance of the date—October 27th—and found it to be the birthday of both Dylan Thomas and Sylvia Plath. Lou had chosen the perfect day to set sail—the day of poets, on Sunday morning, the world behind him.

Παρελθών Χρόνος - A Time Past

ή μήπως ήταν το δεύτερο που ζει και βασιλεύει;

 .......................

The old wooden steps to the front door
where I was sitting that fall morning
when you came downstairs, just awake,
and my joy at sight of you (emerging
into golden day—
the dew almost frost)
pulled me to my feet to tell you
how much I loved you:

those wooden steps
are gone now, decayed
replaced with granite,
hard, gray, and handsome.
The old steps live
only in me:
my feet and thighs
remember them, and my hands
still feel their splinters.

Everything else about and around that house
brings memories of others—of marriage,
of my son. And the steps do too: I recall
sitting there with my friend and her little son who died,
or was it the second one who lives and thrives?
And sitting there ‘in my life,’ often, alone or with my husband.
Yet that one instant,
your cheerful, unafraid, youthful, ‘I love you too,’
the quiet broken by no bird, no cricket, gold leaves
spinning in silence down without
any breeze to blow them,
is what twines itself
in my head and body across those slabs of wood
that were warm, ancient, and now
wait somewhere to be burnt.
