Το Βιβλίο Των Νεκρών - The Book Of The Dead

-α-

.........................

 -a-

In the book of the dead

it is mentioned explicitly:
In this city here
even the trees
are potentially illegal.

With the first suspicion
of Spring on them
they will be uprooted at once.

 -b-

In the book of the dead
the great sages say

without any rotations
that for humans
there is no concern.
With the first suspicion
of Fall on them
they will also have
the fate of the trees.

-c-

In the book of the dead

the ghost is in the house
while we are in the city.
In another version,

we are in the house
and the ghost is in the city.
In a third version
the ghost is us.

-d-

In the book of the dead
there are no heroes
even in the contents.
Stars are always
innocent middle class: the good,
swarthy culprits: the bad
and addicts: the ugly.

-e-

In the book of the dead

stay sleepless glass
men completely dark,
stained pale figures

with Gaitis like faces,
small tetanic bursts
in the haze of the city
constantly dying
but no longer resurrecting.

-f-

In the book of the dead
like keys in fingers

of white and black borders
page to balcony
balcony to cable
cable to the moon
as the universe secretly bends
down the purple sunset

the hemeralopes look high above.

-g-

In the book of the dead
the stars fell into the gutter
along with the eyes of the child.
Lost and also forgotten
Light imprisoning silence
in bookmark memories
thistle flowers and jasmines.
At the end of the day we all
are silent passengers
of an abandoned bus.

-h-

In the book of the dead
Hypnos and his twin Thanatos
old acquaintance both of the colors
have a pthisical peace in their eyes.

Life is a dream and the End
is nothing else but its awakening.
Looking timidly at the sun
behind television antennas,
rages the tumult of the troupe.

-i-

In the book of the dead
the scarlet and the black nearly
balance in the rainbow of the

horsegram eyes of the soul.
In the urn of the sea
the words of sand hiss:

Human life is worth living when
ending with eta and not defeat.

Panagiotis Xourafas
