Πρόσθεσις - Addition

Aν ευτυχής ή δυστυχής είμαι
δεν εξετάζω.
Πλην ένα πράγμα με χαράν 

στον νου μου πάντα βάζω-
που στην μεγάλη πρόσθεσι 
(την πρόσθεσί των που μισώ)
που έχει τόσους αριθμούς, 

δεν είμ’ εγώ εκεί
απ’ τες πολλές μονάδες μια. 

Μες στ’ ολικό ποσό
δεν αριθμήθηκα. 

Κι αυτή η χαρά μ’ αρκεί.

Κρίσις Διερχομένη - Passing Crisis

 













Οι μέρες που περνάμε είναι εξαρτήματα από άνθη ατμομηχανής. 
Η θέλησις μας δεν είναι τίποτε άλλο παρά μιά ριπή από ρίγη μέσα 
σε γυάλινα συρματοπλέγματα θρόμβου και λύπης. Εν τούτοις 
η κάθαρσις παρέρχεται όταν ζητωκραυγάζουμε συνθήματα υπερ 
ταχείας αναρρώσεως και αποκαταστάσεως των καταποντιζομένων 
ανέμων που πάνε κι έρχονται αλλά ποτέ δεν φέρνουμε μιά είδηση 
της προκοπής. Η νεότης ανθεί με την κόμη της χυμένη μέσα 
στο μέλλον των μεταμορφώσεων και με τις μεθυσμένες αγωνίες 
ενός συστήματος καταναλωτικού. Κατά τα άλλα τα εξαρτήματα της 
ατμομηχανής εξακολουθούν να είναι ανθη αντί γιά σφαίρες.

The days we spend are spare parts of locomotive flowers. Our will 
is nothing else but a gust of chills inside glass wires of clot and sorrow. 
However catharsis elapses when we cheer slogans in favor of 
short recovery and rehabilitation of submerged winds which come and go 
but never do we bring good news. Youth flourishes with its hair poured 
into the future of transformations along with drunken agonies of a 
consumer system. Otherwise, spare parts of the locomotive  
are still flowers instead of bullets.

Δίλημμα - Dilemma

Που να σταθώ 
για ν' αγναντέψω, τη ζωή μου;
αυτή την άγνωστη!
Πως να στερήσω 
το πέταγμα στη φαντασία μου;
αυτή την ατέλειωτη!
Με τι να χορτάσω, 
την απορία μου;
αυτή την αχόρταγη!
Κι όμως αρνηθήκαν να μας πουν
την Αλήθεια
για να τρομάζουμε!
Κάθε φορά στο αντίκρυσμά της
(μας συνεπήρε κι η άγνοια!)
Και τώρα σε τι να πιστέψουμε.
Στην Αλήθεια
ή στο «καθιερωμένο;»

Φόροι - Taxes

Βάλετε φόρους βάλετε εις την πτωχή μας ράχη, ποτίστε με το αίμα μας την άρρωστη πατρίδα, σεις το κρασί και τον καπνό που πίνετε μονάχοι, κι εμείς να σας κοιτάζουμε με μάτι σαν γαρίδα. 
Βαριά φορολογήσετε και το νερό που τρέχει, βάλετε φόρους, βάλετε, 
η πλάτη μας αντέχει.
Ό,τι καλό κι αν έχουμε επάνω σας ας μείνει, στα πρόσωπά μας ας χυθεί του μαρασμού το χρώμα, μ’ εμάς το ισοζύγιο του έθνους μας ας γίνει, φορολογήστε και αυτή τη σάρκα μας ακόμα, του σώματός μας
κόβετε καμιά παχιά λωρίδα, και τρώγετέ την 
λαίμαργα μαζί με την πατρίδα.
Ό,τι κι αν τρώγουν οι πτωχοί το έθνος ας τα τρώγει,
ό,τι κι αν πίνουν οι πτωχοί το έθνος ας τα πίνει,
χορταίνετε σαν Λούκουλοι μ΄εμάς το σκυλολόγι, 
κι εμείς θα σας γνωρίζουμε γι΄ αυτό ευγνωμοσύνη. 
Τέτοιοι χωριάτες που ‘μαστε αντέχουμε εις όλα, 
και ούτε τόσον εύκολα τινάζουμε τα κώλα.
Πρέπει να είναι οι πολλοί πτωχοί και πεινασμένοι, 
και οι ολίγοι πάντοτε να βρίσκονται χορτάτοι, 
πρέπει να στέκουν οι πολλοί στα σπίτια των κλεισμένοι,
και οι ολίγοι να πηδούν επάνω στο παλάτι. 
Πρέπει ο κόσμος ο πολύς να δέχεται τα βάρη, 
κι ο λιγοστός επάνω του κανένα να μην πάρει.
Μ’ αυτό το νόμο έζησε ο κόσμος και θα ζήσει,
τη δύναμη του προσκυνά η κάθε κοινωνία. 
Δεν ημπορεί καθένας μας βεβαίως να πλουτίσει,
γιατί του κόσμου έπειτα χαλά η αρμονία. 
Φτώχεια και πλούτος – ζήτημα του καθενός αιώνος:
Ιδού το τέλος κι η αρχή τού φοβερού αγώνος.
Λοιπόν κανένας πρόστυχος κεφάλι μη σηκώσει,
για τόσα νομοσχέδια μη βγάλει τσιμουδιά, 
εις της πατρίδας τον βωμόν το αίμα του ας δώσει, 
χωρίς ν’ αφήσει στεναγμόν η μαύρη του καρδιά.
Κι αν τώρα πάλιν έπεσε απάνω του ο κλήρος, 
πρέπει και πάλι να φανεί γενναίος-μάρτυς-ήρως.

Δίχως τουφέκι και σπαθί, με το ήλιο στο μέτωπο,
υπήρξατε ήρωες και ποιητές μαζί. Είστε το Ποίημα.
Απλώνοντας το χέρι μου δεν φτάνει ως εκεί

Είσαι στα ίχνη ενός μεγάλου θηράματος
μην αφήνεις τα αρώματα της άνοιξης

Χρονοδιάγραμμα - Timetable

Συχνά, θυμάμαι, οι μεγάλοι, 
όταν ήμουν παιδί, μιλούσαν για
το μέλλον μου. Αυτό γινόταν συνήθως 
στο τραπέζι. Αλλά εγώ ούτε τους πρόσεχα, ακούγοντας ένα πουλί έξω στο δέντρο.
Ίσως γι’ αυτό το μέλλον μου 
άργησε τόσο πολύ: ήταν τόσο
αναρίθμητα τα πουλιά και τα δέντρα.

Quite often, I remember, old people, 
when I was a child, talked about my future. 
This happened mainly around the table. 
But I didn't listened to them, while listening 
to a bird out in the tree. Maybe this is why 
my future took so long: birds and trees 
were so numerous.

Φθινοπωρινό Τοπίο - Autumn Landscape


Λυσάει ένας διαβολεμένος αέρας
κι η βροχή δεν πέφτει
δύο διάβολοι αλληλοξεσκίζονται
δύο σκυλιά αλληλοσπαράζονται
φέτος δεν πήγα εξοχή

Περιμένοντας Τους Βαρβάρους - Waiting For The Barbarians

 













Και τώρα τι θα γένουμε ΜΕ τους (Βαυαρούς) Βαρβάρους;
Οι δικοί μας τόσα χρόνια τώρα ήσαν μια κάποια λύσις...

 

-Τι περιμένουμε στην αγορά συναθροισμένοι;
Είναι οι βάρβαροι να φθάσουν σήμερα.
-Γιατί μέσα στην Σύγκλητο μιά τέτοια απραξία;
Τι κάθοντ' οι Συγκλητικοί και δεν νομοθετούνε;
-Γιατί οι βάρβαροι θα φθάσουν σήμερα.
Τι νόμους πια θα κάμουν οι Συγκλητικοί;
Οι βάρβαροι σαν έλθουν θα νομοθετήσουν.
-Γιατί ο αυτοκράτωρ μας τόσο πρωί σηκώθη,
και κάθεται στης πόλεως την πιο μεγάλη πύλη
στον θρόνο επάνω, επίσημος, φορώντας την κορώνα;
-Γιατί οι βάρβαροι θα φθάσουν σήμερα.
Κι ο αυτοκράτωρ περιμένει να δεχθεί
τον αρχηγό τους. Μάλιστα ετοίμασε
για να τον δώσει μια περγαμηνή. Εκεί
τον έγραψε τίτλους πολλούς κι ονόματα.
-Γιατί οι δυό μας ύπατοι κ' οι πραίτορες εβγήκαν
σήμερα με τες κόκκινες, τες κεντημένες τόγες·
γιατί βραχιόλια φόρεσαν με τόσους αμεθύστους,

Γιατί οι βάρβαροι θα φθάσουν σήμερα·
και τέτοια πράγματα θαμπόνουν τους βαρβάρους.
-Γιατί κ' οι άξιοι ρήτορες δεν έρχονται σαν πάντα
να βγάλουνε τους λόγους τους, να πούνε τα δικά τους;
Γιατί οι βάρβαροι θα φθάσουν σήμερα·
κι αυτοί βαριούντ' ευφράδειες και δημηγορίες.
-Γιατί ν' αρχίσει μονομιάς αυτή η ανησυχία
κ' η σύγχυσις. (Τα πρόσωπα τι σοβαρά που έγιναν).
Γιατί αδειάζουν γρήγορα οι δρόμοι κ' οι πλατέες,
κι όλοι γυρνούν στα σπίτια τους πολύ συλλογισμένοι;
Γιατί ενύχτωσε κ' οι βάρβαροι δεν ήλθαν.
Και μερικοί έφθασαν απ' τα σύνορα,
και είπανε πως βάρβαροι πια δεν υπάρχουν.
Και τώρα τι θα γένουμε χωρίς βαρβάρους.
Οι άνθρωποι αυτοί ήσαν μιά κάποια λύσις.


What are we waiting for, assembled in the forum?
The barbarians are due here today. 
Why isn't anything happening in the senate?
Why do the senators sit there without legislating?
 Because the barbarians are coming today.
 What laws can the senators make now?
Once the barbarians are here, they'll do the legislating.
Why did our emperor get up so early,
and why is he sitting at the city's main gate
on his throne, in state, wearing the crown?
Because the barbarians are coming today
and the emperor is waiting to receive their leader.
He has even prepared a scroll to give him,
replete with titles, with imposing names.
Why have our two consuls and praetors come out today
wearing their embroidered, their scarlet togas?
Why have they put on bracelets with so many amethysts,
and rings sparkling with magnificent emeralds?
Why are they carrying elegant canes
beautifully worked in silver and gold?
Because the barbarians are coming today
and things like that dazzle the barbarians.
Why don't our distinguished orators come forward as usual
to make their speeches, say what they have to say?
Because the barbarians are coming today
and they're bored by rhetoric and public speaking.
Why this sudden restlessness, this confusion?
(How serious people's faces have become.)
Why are the streets and squares emptying so rapidly,
everyone going home so lost in thought?
Because night has fallen and the barbarians have not come.
And some who have just returned from the border say
there are no barbarians any longer.
And now, what's going to happen to us without barbarians?
They were, those people, a kind of solution.
