Τα Κελάρια - Cellars

 

Τα σπίτια που έφτιαχναν άλλοτε, έμεναν κούφια από κάτω, 

και τους χώρους εκείνους τούς έλεγαν τότε «κελάρι». 

Εκεί μέσα φυλάγονταν διάφορα πράγματα: 

παλαιός ρουχισμός, υποδήματα, τιμαλφή και ωραία γυαλιά, 

παγερά νυφικά και λευκώματα, υπολείμματα επίπλων 

με δύσκολο όνομα και, συχνά, κάποια πρόσωπα που πολύ αγαπήθηκαν.

Στην περίπτωση αυτή, τα φιλούσαν σφιχτά και τα κλείδωναν, 

και αμέσως μετά χτίζαν όλες τις πόρτες, για να μην τις ανοίξουν και φύγουν.

Και καθώς δεν υπήρχε διέξοδος, και οι τοίχοι γερά μαγκωμένοι, 

εκρατούσαν καλά των παλιών οι αγάπες, και τις νόμιζαν όλοι γι’ αθάνατες.

The houses they built some time ago,stayed hollow underneath,

and those spaces were called "cellar".

In there, various things were kept:

Old clothes,shoes,jewelry and nice glasses,

cold wedding dresses and albums, residues of furniture

with difficult name and,often,some faces they were deeply loved.

In this case,they kissed them tightly and locked them,

and right after they built all doors entries, so that nothing can open and leave.

And as there was no way out, and walls were firmly stuck 

Loves in the old days endured for good, and everyone thought they were immortal.
